A Georgia mother has died just days after the violent death of her 20-year-old son, with loved ones attributing her passing to the emotional devastation of losing her only child. Tasha Lawson passed away on April 13 from heart complications, just 11 days after her son, Tee’Andrick Lawson, was found beaten to death inside his home in Waycross, Georgia.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation into Tee’Andrick’s murder. Family members stated that two men broke into his home while Tasha Lawson was out, and they believe his sexual orientation may have played a role in the attack. Authorities have not confirmed whether the incident is being investigated as a hate crime, and no further details have been released.

The loss of her son proved too much for Lawson, who was hospitalized shortly after his death and succumbed to what the Ware County Coroner confirmed as "aortic dissection rupture, hypertensive, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease." Her death was officially ruled natural, but relatives and supporters say it was heartbreak that ultimately took her life.

According to her family, the bond between Tasha and Tee’Andrick was exceptionally close. They described them as best friends who did everything together. “Tee’Andrick and his mother were inseparable. Their bond was deep and unbreakable,” a statement on a fundraising page shared. “The pain of losing her son was too much for her heart to bear, and just days later, she passed away from sheer heartbreak.”

Tee’Andrick Lawson was remembered as a joyful, free-spirited, and loving young man who brought energy and laughter into every space he entered. Loved ones described him as a bright soul who enjoyed dancing and spreading happiness.

Tasha Lawson, speaking shortly before her own passing, reflected on her son’s character. “He was very bright. Got along really well. He loved to dance. Laughed a lot,” she said. “I can’t wake him up and say, come go to the store with me. I can’t do any of that. He just didn’t deserve what they did to him. He didn’t deserve that.”
