Girl, 12, is kidnapped on her way to a wedding before being raped and brutally murdered with her head smashed against a boulder in horrifying attack in India
A 12-year-old girl, en route to a wedding, was abducted, raped, and brutally murdered in a shocking incident in India. The tribal girl, a Class 6 student, was attacked and killed on Sunday by unidentified assailants in the village of Deori Taluka, Gondia, Maharashtra.
Her semi-naked body was discovered decomposing near an armed outpost in Ganutola. Since the grim discovery, investigators have been struggling to find leads and apprehend the perpetrator who fled the scene.
Near the girl's body, which had been missing since April 19, investigators found a blood-smeared boulder.
The corpse exhibited head injuries, cuts on the face and neck, as reported by Times of India. Investigators believe the boulder remained unmoved, indicating that the girl was lifted before repeatedly having her head and face smashed against it.
An officer involved in the investigation stated, "She likely resisted the rape, prompting a violent reaction from the attackers." The officer further speculated, "The girl may have threatened to expose them or attempted to raise an alarm."
Reports indicate that the girl was on her way to a nearby wedding but was last seen riding on a bike with an unidentified individual around 8 pm. Villagers reportedly declined to identify the biker.
This tragic incident unfolded alongside the discovery of a seven-year-old girl's body in a drain in Masuri, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Her body, concealed under a pile of bricks just 50 meters from her home, showed signs of sexual assault and fatal head injuries, according to police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Yadav stated, "The postmortem report confirmed that she suffered head injuries leading to her death and was sexually assaulted before being murdered." The girl had been missing since Saturday evening, and her disappearance was reported by her family when she failed to return home after playing with other children.
Police have mobilized four teams and are also scanning CCTV cameras of the nearby areas for clues
