Groom discovers his bride is actually a man 12 days after their wedding

AK thought he had found the wife of his dreams until he was told she was a man

A groom in Indonesia was devastated to discover that his newly-wed wife was actually a man planning to scam him out of his money.

The 26-year-old groom, known as AK, met his partner Adinda Kanza, also 26, on Instagram last year and began dating in person. When they met, Adinda would wear a traditional Muslim niqab that covered her face, which AK believed was a sign of her religious dedication.

The couple decided to marry and held an intimate ceremony at AK's home on April 12, with none of the bride's family present. Adinda claimed she had no living family members. However, soon after the wedding, AK grew suspicious as Adinda continuously avoided intimacy, citing reasons like being on her period or feeling ill. Adinda also refused to interact with AK's family and insisted on wearing her niqab at all times, even at home.

Twelve days after the wedding, AK tracked down Adinda's address and discovered that her parents were alive. They revealed to AK that his bride was actually a man named ESH, who had started cross-dressing in 2020. The parents were unaware of ESH's relationship and marriage.

The man managed to hide his identity for their entire relationship

According to police, ESH had a feminine voice, which helped maintain the deception. Authorities noted, "He also has a gentle voice and tone, so there was no suspicion at all about him being a woman."

Police arrested ESH, who confessed that the marriage was part of a plan to steal AK's family's assets. ESH is now facing charges of fraud and could be sentenced to up to four years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
