Gunmen kidnap and kill traditional ruler in Bauchi

The village of Riruwai in Lame District of Bauchi Emirate, Toro LGA of Bauchi State, is mourning the tragic abduction and murder of its traditional ruler, Alhaji Garba Badamasi.

According to reports, on Friday, March 15, 2024, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked the village, creating chaos by firing shots indiscriminately and spreading terror among residents.

In the midst of the chaos, the attackers targeted the palace of the revered Village Head, abducting him and taking him to an unknown location.

The community was left devastated by the sudden disappearance of their leader, and their worst fears were confirmed when Badamasi's lifeless body was discovered in the vicinity of the village after spending a harrowing day in captivity.

This heinous act not only robbed Riruwai of a respected leader but also deeply impacted the entire community, leaving them shaken and mourning the loss of a beloved figure.

The body was later recovered by search parties in the bush around the village and brought to the palace of the District Head of Lame in Gumau on Sunday, March 17, for funeral prayers and burial in accordance with Islamic traditions.

A traditional title holder from the village confirmed the tragic development, expressing prayers for Allah to grant Badamasi's soul eternal rest in Aljanat firdausi.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the State Police Command, including reaching out to the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Wakili, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report on Monday.
