Gunmen Kill Herder, 50 Cows, Sheep In Nigeria’s Plateau State Amid Renewed Violence

In renewed violence in Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria, a herder, along with 50 heads of cattle and an unspecified number of sheep, were reportedly killed.


According to eyewitnesses, gunmen also rustled about 50 heads of cattle in the attack. The incident occurred on Tuesday at Fanzo village in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.


A herder, speaking anonymously, stated that he lost 27 heads of cattle besides an unspecified number of sheep in the incident. He described the attackers as armed with AK-47 rifles who fired indiscriminately, resulting in one death and another injury.


"They also carted away about 50 (heads of) cattle, killed 50 others, and an unspecified number of sheep," the eyewitness said anonymously.


The Sector Four Commander of the joint task force mobilized to mitigate further breakdown of law and peace in the area.
