Heroic Mother Rescues Six-Month-Old Son After Armed Ex-Husband Breaks In, Holds Them Hostage for Hours

Allie was staying at her mother and father's home after her and Todd, her ex-husband, split up. At the time, her parents were away on vacation.

On Friday around 3am, Todd Marchetti broke into Allie Battiston's parent's home in Surprise, Arizona, armed with a machete.

Once they were rescued, Todd Marchetti set the home on fire and was later found dead by cops who believe he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound

Authorities stated that Todd, aware Allie's family was out of town, held his ex-wife and their six-month-old son, Jaxson, hostage for over eight hours. Michael Norman, Allie's father, expressed his anguish: "You close your eyes and all you can think of is, 'God, I hope nothing happens to Jaxson or Allie.'"

After multiple escape attempts, Allie contacted a nearby construction worker, escaping through a window with minor injuries. During a standoff with police, Todd shot his infant son in the 'lower extremities.' Harrowing bodycam footage captured the moment officers stormed the home to rescue the baby.

While the violent incident unfolded, Norman and his wife were away on vacation, when she noticed a clip of a news channel showing their home burning on TV

The baby's father set the house on fire and was later found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. During the ordeal, Todd also shot a dog, which was later euthanized.

Jaxson was airlifted to Phoenix Children's Hospital and has since undergone three surgeries. He is expected to recover. Allie has been by his side throughout his recovery.

Community members have rallied to support the family, collecting essentials for them after losing their home in the incident.
