Horrifying Footage Shows 14ft Alligator with Body of Florida Woman in Its Stomach
Disturbing bodycam footage reveals the aftermath of a deadly attack where a 14-foot alligator consumed 41-year-old Sabrina Peckham. Peckham, who was homeless, was dragged into a canal in Clearwater, Florida, by the massive reptile.
The newly released footage from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission captures the scene moments after the gator was shot dead. The video shows the bloated alligator surrounded by police, its stomach visibly swollen with Peckham inside. Additional footage documents the exact moment the beast was shot.
“Watch them, watch them,” a voice is heard shouting before the trigger is pulled, resulting in a loud bang and splash.
The alarm was raised in September of last year when a passerby saw the gator with a body in its mouth. Several local residents also witnessed the gruesome sight, with some even recording the scene as the alligator dragged its prey away.
Emergency responders and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission managed to pull the alligator from the water and humanely kill it. Officers then taped the animal's mouth shut and used rope and chains to extract it from the canal. The gruesome task of removing Peckham's remains involved slashing the side of the gator’s belly.
Peckham’s daughter, Breauana Dorris, later denied claims that her mother had taunted the animal. In a Facebook post, she explained that her mother, part of the local homeless population, was likely walking to or from her campsite near the creek when the alligator attacked from the water.
“We expected to have many more years with her. Unfortunately, God has called her home sooner than our hearts were ready,” Dorris wrote.
Peckham had been arrested for trespassing on a county wetland just two months before her death, ignoring warning signs around the area. She had a history of misdemeanors dating back to 2014, including theft convictions and previous trespassing incidents.
“No matter how you put it, no one deserves to die like this,” Dorris wrote. “To my mother: I love you more than I ever expressed, I miss you more than you'll ever know, and I pray that you are looking down over me and your grandchildren. Please protect us. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I pray you are at peace and you are no longer struggling or hurting.”
The alligator is believed to have come from Ridgecrest Park, a nearby lake known for its alligator population.
