Jake Paul fight against Mike Tyson is announced for July 20 and will be streamed live on Netflix

Netflix announced on Thursday that social media personality turned boxer Jake Paul will face former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on July 20 at AT&T Stadium. The streaming service will broadcast the bout live, marking its entry into combat sports production.

Paul, 27, will take on the 57-year-old Tyson, who hasn’t fought since his exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020. This event will headline Netflix's first live combat sports show.

The nature of the bout, whether a professional fight or an exhibition, is yet to be determined, pending approval from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Tyson, despite looking sharp in training videos, may face regulations due to his age.

Jake Paul rose to fame as a YouTube influencer before pursuing boxing professionally four years ago. With nine wins in 10 fights, including six knockouts, Paul's only defeat came last year against Tommy Fury.

“Iron Mike” Tyson, the former undisputed heavyweight champion, expressed excitement about facing Paul, noting the progression of Paul's boxing skills. Tyson sees the match as a full-circle moment, having previously fought alongside Paul on the undercard of his bout against Roy Jones Jr.

The event, co-produced by Paul's company Most Valuable Promotions, marks Netflix's third venture into live sports, following a golf/auto racing event and an exhibition tennis match featuring Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.
