Jersey Shore teacher Jessica Sawicki charged with having sex with her student in a car parked in a wildlife refuge

A Jersey Shore teacher is facing serious allegations of engaging in sexual activity with a student in a nature preserve, according to authorities.

Jessica Sawicki, 37, from Point Pleasant and an English teacher at Hamilton High School West in Trenton, is accused of sexually assaulting the student multiple times this year at the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area in Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth County prosecutors revealed.

The wildlife habitat is approximately a 20-minute drive from the school. Sawicki and the student were discovered in compromising states by officers from New Jersey Fish and Wildlife on Sunday.

Reportedly, Sawicki confessed to authorities that she and the teen engaged in unprotected sexual activities at least five times since December in the 6,393-acre state-owned wildlife management area, as detailed in an affidavit of probable cause obtained by The Post. These encounters allegedly occurred in the back seat of the teen’s car.

The student involved is described in the criminal complaint as being “at least 16 but not yet 18.”

Despite her marital status, Sawicki had previously showcased her enthusiasm for teaching on her now-deleted teacher page, stating, “This is my 7th year working at Hamilton West teaching English . . . I truly enjoy getting to know the students here and helping them become the best versions of themselves while they strive for their futures.”

Following her arrest on Monday, Sawicki is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a detention hearing next week.

The school district promptly placed Sawicki on administrative leave from her position, which pays $41,000 annually, as announced in a statement on the district’s website. Principal Brian Smith and Superintendent Scott Rocco expressed the district's firm stance against such actions, emphasizing their commitment to student welfare and professional standards.

It’s noted in the statement that there is no indication the alleged incidents occurred on school property. Sawicki’s profile has been removed from the school's website directory following her arrest.

She faces charges including five counts of second-degree sexual assault and five counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Attempts to reach the Sawicki household for comment were unsuccessful.
