John Mellencamp's daughter Teddi says dad has detailed plans for her burial amid cancer diagnosis

Legendary musician John Mellencamp has reportedly discussed detailed burial plans with his daughter, Teddi Mellencamp, as she continues to fight brain cancer. Teddi, 43, recently shared that her 73-year-old father wants her to be laid to rest in the Mellencamp family mausoleum in Indiana.
The conversation came to light during a discussion on her podcast, where she recounted receiving numerous phone calls from her father in a single day. “Yesterday my dad calls 11 times in a row. I finally answer, I'm like, 'I'm in the bath, let me live a little, let me enjoy.' He goes, 'I just want to make sure you're going to be in our group family mausoleum,’” she recalled.
Teddi expressed concern for her children’s final resting place, to which her father replied that there would be a main section for the top five family members, with additional plots surrounding it for others. “I go, ‘Do I need to make this commitment right now?’ And he goes, ‘You're doing your will right now, so you may as well put it in there,’” she recounted.
Despite the heavy topic, the two managed to find humor in the situation. “He goes, ‘You want to know the good news? Hot girls never die,’” she said. “That's going on my tombstone.”
Teddi acknowledged that she may have initiated the conversation about final arrangements after venting to her father about online trolls using her diagnosis to post cruel comments. “I was all annoyed about the person on Instagram,” she said, and added that she ultimately agreed to be buried in the family mausoleum. She also emphasized to her father that she did not want to be kept alive in a vegetative state during her treatment.
Teddi first revealed her cancer diagnosis publicly in February and provided an update in March, sharing that the condition was more severe than initially believed. “I have multiple tumors in my brain that weren’t able to be removed via surgery. I also have two tumors in my lung. These are all metastases of my melanoma,” she wrote in a statement. “The doctors are hopeful that immunotherapy will effectively treat them.”
In 2022, Teddi was previously diagnosed with skin cancer. Throughout her health battles, she has continued to speak openly about her experience and advocate for awareness.
Teddi Mellencamp is best known for her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, appearing as a cast member from seasons 8 to 10 and returning as a guest in later seasons.
