Lawyer specializing in prostitution cases busted trying to hire prostitute

A solicitation specialist in criminal defense found himself in the hot seat after attempting to engage a prostitute, as revealed by the attorney general of Ohio.

"An attorney should be well aware – refrain from purchasing sex in Ohio," stated Republican Ohio AG Dave Yost in a recent press release.

Yost disclosed that a sting operation conducted by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force uncovered two individuals allegedly seeking to procure sex services, one of whom was 72-year-old criminal defense attorney Kenneth Martin.

According to reports, the attorney responded to a prostitution advertisement on a website notorious for human trafficking, consenting to pay $180 for services. Martin proceeded to a designated meeting point, allegedly carrying the agreed-upon sum, only to be met by law enforcement disguised as sex workers.

Martin "lists prostitution and solicitation cases among his legal defense specialties" on his website, as noted by the Attorney General’s Office.

"In some cases, it's those you'd least anticipate who fuel the demand for human trafficking," remarked Yost in his recent press release.

Martin received a summons to appear in court and was charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools on Feb. 22, according to local media reports.

Another individual, identified as 31-year-old Coty Salman of Youngstown, was also apprehended during the sting operation. Salman likewise responded to what he believed was a prostitution advertisement online, agreeing to pay $140 for sex services.

Since assuming office in 2019, Yost has made combatting human trafficking a primary focus, launching the Human Trafficking Initiative aimed at dismantling trafficking networks by apprehending traffickers and purchasers.
