Man accused of cement theft jumps into Lagos lagoon, dies
A man named Azeez allegedly jumped into the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge lagoon in Lagos State after being accused of stealing cement bags. The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. on a Friday.
According to sources, Azeez was being chased by a man, which led to him jumping into the lagoon. The director of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency operations in Lagos Central received a call about the incident and found Azeez's lifeless body at the scene.
Paramedics confirmed Azeez's death, noting that he was accused of stealing cement bags, prompting his decision to jump into the lagoon.
The police have deposited Azeez's body at the Mainland General Hospital for an autopsy and preservation. An investigation is underway regarding the circumstances of his death.
User According to the Spokesperson of the Police Command in Lagos, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, “It was discovered that one Elijah Amos, the seller of the cement, was pursuing the deceased before he jumped into the Lagoon because he was alleged to have stolen some bags of cement,”
