Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Elder Brother Over Foodstuffs Argument in Anambra

Police operatives from the Abagana Divisional Headquarters, in collaboration with AVG Operatives, arrested a 37-year-old man, Anthony Kosisochukwu Okafor, on Friday, February 7, for allegedly killing his elder brother, Emmanuel Okafor, 45, in Abagana, Njikoka LGA of Anambra State.


According to the state police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect admitted to engaging in a heated argument with the victim over the use of foodstuffs in their home. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, during which Kosisochukwu reportedly used a stick to pierce his brother’s chest. Emmanuel was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the attending doctor.


Ikenga described the incident as deeply disturbing, stressing the need for better conflict resolution and emotional management within families to prevent tragic consequences.


The case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka, and the suspect will be charged in court upon the completion of the investigation.
