Man confesses to stabbing wife to death after she bit his finger while having sex

Marcos Paulino (right) turned himself in to the police in the Brazilian southeastern city of Caconde on Monday and confessed to murdering his wife, Tatiéle de Cássia (left), because she had bitten his finger while they were having sex

A Brazilian man surrendered to the police after confessing to the murder of his wife, citing a bizarre reason that sparked his violent act.

Marcos Paulino admitted to the São Paulo Civil Police that he fatally stabbed his wife, Tatiéle de Cássia, while she was asleep at their home in Caconde. His motive? He claimed that he became enraged when his wife bit his finger during a sexual encounter.

The São Paulo Secretariat of Public Security said in statement that Tatiéle de Cássia (pictured) had 'holes in the chest and neck' as a result of being stabbed by her husband Marcos Paulino

Paulino recounted how he waited until de Cássia fell asleep before attacking her with a kitchen knife, causing fatal wounds to her neck and chest. He then fled and hid in the countryside near Caconde until he decided to turn himself in at a local Military Police station.

Upon investigating the couple's home, authorities discovered de Cássia's body with stab wounds consistent with Paulino's confession. Additionally, Paulino revealed to investigators that he had consumed cocaine before committing the crime.

The knife used by Marcos Paulino to allegedly murder his wife, Tatiéle de Cássia, was recovered at their home in Caconde, a city in the southeastern Brazilian state of São Paulo

The couple had been in a relationship since October 2023 and had moved in together in January, making the violent turn of events even more shocking.

Paulino now faces a femicide charge and could be sentenced to 12 to 30 years in prison if convicted. This tragic incident adds to Brazil's grim statistics on femicide, with 1,463 women reported as victims in 2023 alone.

The country has seen a total of 10,655 femicides since 2015, highlighting the urgent need for stronger measures to address gender-based violence.

Samira Bueno, the director of Brazil's Forum for Public Security, emphasized the severity of the issue, stating that the deaths of over 10,000 women due to gender-based violence cannot be normalized. She called for concerted efforts from civil society and authorities to reduce these alarming numbers and ensure the safety and well-being of women across Brazil.
