Man dead after crashing into White House security barrier

A driver passed away after a vehicle hit an outer perimeter gate of the White House complex, and the incident late Saturday is being looked into as a traffic crash, according to police. President Joe Biden was spending the weekend in Delaware, and the Secret Service confirmed there was no threat to the White House.


The male driver, not immediately identified, was discovered deceased in the vehicle after the crash around 10:30 p.m., as per a Secret Service statement.


A crash happened Saturday evening outside the White House, leaving one person dead.

The Metropolitan Police Department mentioned the vehicle crashed into a security barrier at the intersection of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. Police were alerted to the scene at 10:46 p.m. and confirmed one adult male died from the crash into a security barrier around the complex.


The Secret Service assured that security protocols were enacted and reiterated there was no threat to the White House. Both the Secret Service and police will continue their investigation.
