Man dies on Lufthansa flight after coughing up 'litres of blood'
A tragic incident unfolded aboard a flight from Bangkok to Munich as witnesses recount the harrowing ordeal of a 63-year-old German national who passed away after coughing up what passengers described as "liters of blood."
According to reports, the man and his wife exhibited signs of distress upon boarding the Lufthansa plane last Thursday. Witnesses noted his profuse sweating and apparent difficulty breathing, yet his partner assured the crew that he was fit to fly, attributing his condition to exhaustion from rushing to catch the flight.
Shortly after take-off, the man's health rapidly deteriorated. Witness Martin Missfelder described a scene of horror as the man began spitting blood into a bag before it started pouring from his mouth and nose, causing panic among passengers.
Efforts to resuscitate the man by flight attendants and a doctor on board proved futile, and he was tragically pronounced dead approximately 30 minutes into the flight.
The Airbus A380 was forced to return to Bangkok just ninety minutes into the twelve-hour journey. Upon landing, chaos ensued, with passengers grappling with the shock of the incident.
Mr. Missfelder highlighted the heartbreaking sight of the deceased man's wife navigating customs alone amidst the bureaucratic formalities.
In response to the incident, a Lufthansa spokesperson expressed condolences to the family of the deceased passenger and acknowledged the disruption caused to other travelers. All affected passengers were promptly rebooked on alternative flights to complete their journeys home.
