Man robbed by sex workers

A Harare man found himself at a loss after reportedly being robbed by two sex workers, Samantha Moyo (22) and Tafadzwa Bandare (33), who recently appeared in court facing charges related to the incident.

The court, presided over by Harare magistrate Simon Kandiyero, remanded Moyo and Bandare out of custody until May 2.

According to State prosecutor Miriro Matavo, the alleged robbery occurred on March 27 when the victim, Tinashe Gabilo from Msasa Park, approached Moyo for sexual services at the corner of Nelson Mandela and 5th Street around 8 pm.

Moyo accompanied Gabilo to room number 31 at Gail Court, where they engaged in their activities. After being paid US$10 for her services, a dispute arose as Moyo demanded an additional US$50.

In the midst of the argument, Moyo purportedly seized Gabilo's laptop and cellphone. It was during this altercation that Bandare, along with another accomplice who remains at large, entered the room and forcefully took Gabilo's belongings, including his wallet containing US$50.

After the robbery, the perpetrators returned the laptop and cellphone to Gabilo before leaving the scene. The following day, Gabilo reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of Moyo and Bandare.

The court proceedings shed light on the sequence of events surrounding the alleged robbery, highlighting the importance of legal processes in addressing criminal activities and ensuring justice for victims.
