Man sets himself on fire outside Trump’s ‘hush money’ trial in NYC

The disturbing scene unfolded in a barricaded park across the street from the courthouse.

A man set himself on fire outside Manhattan Criminal Court Friday afternoon during former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial, as reported by law enforcement sources.

This shocking incident unfolded in a barricaded park directly across the street from the 100 Centre Street courthouse around 1:30 p.m., coinciding with the finalization of the jury selection in the historic case.

People rushed to the scene with fire extinguishers.

Disturbing footage captured the man in a seated position, completely engulfed in flames. Subsequently, his blackened body was seen twitching on the ground as bystanders rushed over with fire extinguishers.

“One cop was overheard saying at the scene about 20 minutes later, 'Somebody set themselves on fire,' as ashes smoldered on the ground in the aftermath."

According to police sources, the man is 20 years old and possibly homeless. He had been sitting on a bench in the park before abruptly throwing his belongings on the ground and setting himself ablaze. The means by which he ignited the fire are not immediately clear.

First responders quickly rushed the man to a hospital for treatment.
