Married cop, 41, 'charged with misconduct over affair' with rookie female officer, 24

A senior West Yorkshire Police officer faces charges of gross misconduct following allegations of an affair with a junior officer.

Chief Superintendent Daniel Greenwood, who was suspended from duty in 2021 amid claims of a relationship with PC Caitlin Howarth, then 21, now faces possible dismissal at a misconduct hearing later this year, as reported in the national press.

At the time of his suspension, Chief Supt Greenwood held the position of Bradford District Commander. The Sun has now reported on his impending disciplinary proceedings.

PC Caitlin Howarth, now 24, has also faced charges of misconduct in a public office at York Crown Court. She is accused in connection with a "relationship with a notifiable association with criminal connections."

Howarth remains suspended from the force, and her trial is scheduled to commence in February. The report suggested her alleged connections to a jailed drugs kingpin, currently serving time for heroin supply.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed ongoing proceedings under the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020 against Greenwood, emphasizing that he remains suspended from duty during this period.
