Firefighters continued efforts Monday morning to contain a massive blaze at a manufacturing facility in the southwest suburbs of Joliet, near the interchange of Interstate 55 and Route 59.
The fire broke out at Rovanco Piping Systems, located at 20535 SE Frontage Road, along the border between Joliet and Shorewood. The company specializes in manufacturing pre-insulated diesel exhaust and fluid piping systems. Emergency crews from multiple departments responded to the scene. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire or the exact time it began. It remains unclear whether anyone was inside the building when the fire started, though no injuries have been reported so far.

The fire has prompted the closure of a large section of SE Frontage Road, from McDonough Street to County Farm Road. Thick smoke and visible flames have drawn attention from nearby businesses and residents, many of whom gathered along County Farm Road to observe the ongoing firefighting efforts. Workers from neighboring businesses expressed uncertainty about when they would be able to access their workplaces.
Residents in the area reported hearing a loud boom or explosion early Monday morning, with at least one person stating the sound was strong enough to shake their home.
As crews continue to battle the blaze, authorities are expected to release additional information as the situation develops.
