Michigan Man Arrested for Sexually Explicit Note Left on Teenager’s Car

A Michigan man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leaving a sexually explicit note on a teenager's car. Authorities tracked the suspect using the phone number included in the note.
Police responded to a Target in Auburn Hills around 6 p.m. on March 18 after a 17-year-old woman reported finding an explicit note on her car offering payment for sexual favors.
Upon contacting the number on the note, officers connected with Thomas Mellick Hensler, a 38-year-old resident of Clarkston, who was still present in the Target parking lot. Police located Hensler sitting in his parked vehicle and took him into custody. During the arrest, officers discovered a substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
Hensler has been charged with child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime and possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on March 25, with his bond set at $25,000 cash. He is currently being held in the Oakland County Jail.
If Hensler posts bond, he will be required to wear a GPS tether and will be prohibited from returning to the Target in Auburn Hills or having unsupervised contact with minors.
Authorities have since received multiple reports from parents stating their children also found similar notes on their cars with the same phone number. Officials urge anyone who believes their children may have been targeted to contact local law enforcement.
If convicted of child sexually abusive activity, Hensler faces up to 20 years in prison and/or a $100,000 fine. He could receive an additional 20-year sentence for using a computer to commit a crime.
Hensler is scheduled to appear in court again on March 27, 2025.
