A Las Vegas mother is under investigation after allegedly storming into a classroom at Bailey Middle School and threatening to shoot and kill a teacher who she claimed called her daughter “slow.” The incident, which occurred on March 28 during school hours, has sparked widespread concern from parents and school officials over ongoing security vulnerabilities on campus.
The event came to light when concerned parent Abraham Camejo addressed the matter during a Clark County School District Bond Oversight Committee meeting. According to emails he shared, the woman gained access to the school during instructional time and entered the classroom where she directed threats at the teacher and also allegedly targeted another student.
“She spent 20 minutes in the parking lot telling us how she would put the school on hard lockdown, and even mentioned that our school was way too easy to gain access,” Camejo read from the emails, highlighting the need for immediate security upgrades.
Parents are now demanding that the district fast-track the construction of a security gate, currently scheduled for completion in early 2027. The request for a gate has reportedly been pending since 2020, raising concerns about the district’s delay in addressing safety risks.
Dr. Eva White, who previously served on the school’s organizational team, confirmed that school administrators had been working to enhance security measures even before this incident. The recent threat, however, has reignited urgency among stakeholders.
Middle school parent Cindy Lopez said she only recently became aware of the situation and expressed deep concern for student safety. “It scares me to be honest, because it could have been towards a student here,” Lopez said. “I feel like the fence would help out a lot so that this incident wouldn't happen again, or to, you know, a student.”
The Clark County School District has stated that it is actively implementing enhanced security measures, including efforts to establish a single point of entry at the school. The district has also submitted a warrant against the parent involved, seeking charges for disturbance of a school and making threats toward a school employee.
The investigation is ongoing, as school officials, law enforcement, and families continue to push for stronger safeguards across school campuses.
