Mother of British woman missing in US Virgin Islands asks President Biden for help finding her daughter
The family of British woman Sarm Heslop, missing for three years in the US Virgin Islands, is seeking help from President Biden to find her.
Sarm Heslop, a former air hostess, vanished from her boyfriend Ryan Bane's boat in March 2021. Her mother, Brenda Street, believes she was murdered.
Ms. Street stated, "I do believe she was murdered. There are places where people can be put in the ocean and never found. I believe that's what happened."
Ms. Heslop and Mr. Bane were at a sports bar before her disappearance. Mr. Bane reported her missing the next morning but delayed notifying the coastguard. The Virgin Islands Police Department's handling of the case has been criticized.
Ms. Street has reached out to President Biden for assistance, urging US authorities to take over the investigation.
A former Metropolitan Police homicide commander has joined the search effort, calling for accountability from US officials and highlighting Mr. Bane's domestic violence conviction.
The UK Foreign Office confirmed their involvement in assisting Ms. Heslop's family. The Virgin Islands Police Department did not respond to requests for comment.
