Detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has condemned Nigeria’s prosecutors and courts, accusing them of lacking a proper understanding of the country’s laws.

Visibly frustrated after his court appearance at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, Kanu declared that legal ignorance was fueling injustice and weakening Nigeria’s judicial system.

“The prosecution and this court don’t know the law, that is the fact,” Kanu said in a video recorded by Channels Television. “Poor knowledge of the law is killing Nigeria… Just obey it.”

Kanu also reiterated that his agitation for Biafra is a legitimate right, criticizing authorities for reclassifying his charges from treasonable felony to terrorism.

His lead counsel, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, insisted that Justice Binta Nyako no longer has jurisdiction over the case. “We stood our ground & told the Judge that she no longer possesses jurisdiction over Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and that we appeared ‘under protest,’” Ejimakor stated.
