Ondo State: Pastor’s Wife, 2 Others Escape After Kidnappers Fell Asleep


Police detectives have apprehended five suspected kidnappers who fell asleep after abducting a pastor’s wife and two others. The suspects allegedly dozed off due to consuming hard drugs. The victims managed to escape while the abductors were asleep.


The arrested suspects are Garuba Mumuni, 27; Yusuf Tale, 21; Kabiru Muhammed, 16; Shaibu Umar, and Adamu Mohammed, 22. The Ofosu Division police apprehended them after the victims identified one of the suspects.


According to the police report, “A case of kidnapping was reported at Ofosu Division, involving a pastor’s wife and a church member abducted in the church, and a third victim taken while picking snails on the farm. The victims escaped from their captors on different occasions when the kidnappers fell asleep due to drug use."


“Through intelligence, on May 1, 2024, five of the six kidnappers were apprehended by Ofosu division officers and identified by the victims as part of the gang that abducted them."


The State Police Commissioner, Abayomi Oladipo, confirmed that the suspects would face charges soon.

Furthermore, Oladipo mentioned the arrest of Adetokunbo Adesina, who claimed to have been contracted to kill over 500 people. Adesina was arrested after his last victim paid him N110,000.
