One person is confirmed dead and five others remain missing after a boat capsized off the coast of Florida over the weekend. The incident occurred on Friday, April 11, but emergency responders were first alerted late Sunday morning.
At approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) responded to reports of an overturned vessel. The vessel was discovered approximately 29 miles off the St. Lucie Inlet, located between Hutchinson Island and Jupiter Island in Martin County. A good Samaritan reported the overturned boat, prompting the Coast Guard’s involvement.

Upon arrival, four individuals were rescued from the water. According to authorities, one additional person located on the vessel was pronounced deceased. The survivors were transported via helicopter to Stuart Airport and then taken to Cleveland South Hospital for further evaluation.
Emergency responders confirmed that three of the rescued individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while one suffered serious injuries. The names and identities of those involved have not yet been released.

According to one of the survivors, the group had departed from the Bahamas before the vessel capsized on Friday. The U.S. Coast Guard has confirmed that the search for the remaining five individuals is ongoing.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the capsizing. Further updates will be provided as the search and rescue efforts progress.
