A model has been charged with second-degree murder following the death of a man who allegedly paid her to perform a fatal sexual stunt.

Michaela Brashaye Rylaarsdam, 31, was arrested last month, two years after the death of her former client, Michael Dale, 55. A video recorded for her OnlyFans profile reportedly showed Dale suffocating with a bag secured over his head with duct tape for eight minutes. His arms and legs were bound, preventing him from removing the covering. Rylaarsdam also allegedly glued boots to his feet, claiming it was done at his request. The encounter took place at a residence in Escondido, California. The video reportedly captures Rylaarsdam realizing something was wrong and calling 911. Emergency responders arrived and attempted CPR.

Dale was hospitalized and declared brain dead the following day, with his death attributed to lack of oxygen to the brain. Authorities state that Dale had contacted Rylaarsdam through an advertisement on a website used for escort services. Their text exchanges revealed his request to be wrapped like a mummy in Saran wrap. He allegedly paid over $11,000 for the encounter.

On the day of his death, Rylaarsdam arrived at approximately 6 p.m., and Dale appeared intoxicated. Despite this, they proceeded with the planned activities. The 911 call was placed four hours later. Rylaarsdam has been taken into custody without bail and has pleaded not guilty in Vista Superior Court.

A key issue in the case is whether the events between Rylaarsdam and Dale were consensual. The incident involved elements of bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadism, and masochism (BDSM). Legal experts note that a victim’s consent is not a defense for homicide, though it may be considered as a factor in the case. Rylaarsdam was charged with second-degree murder, which requires proving conscious disregard for human life, rather than first-degree murder, which would require intent to kill.
