Over 100 migrants break through razor wire, knock down guards as they illegally cross El Paso border in wild scene (video)

A group of more than 100 migrants attempted to cross into the US unlawfully by storming a border wall on Thursday, breaching razor wire and pushing over guards in the process.

Earlier, The Post witnessed approximately 600 migrants gathering at the international border as part of a 'spring surge' in migrant arrivals, hoping to enter the US.

The Texas National Guard was trying to organize them into smaller groups, but tension escalated when guardsmen separated women and children from adult males.

Video footage captured by The Post showed a group of mostly single men rushing towards Texas troops, wearing hoodies, gloves, and winter jackets, pulling down fencing and dashing through the concertina wire. Guards formed a defensive line to hold their ground against the outnumbering migrants.

Amid chaotic scenes, some migrants tried to surrender, while others pushed through, knocking guards aside. The group then reached the border gate, shouting at guards on the other side.

Additional Texas National Guard personnel moved in to secure the area as the situation intensified. Some migrants were pushed back into Mexico, while others were arrested. The remaining individuals were brought into the US for processing, according to local reports.

Border Patrol agent Orlando Marrero confirmed that migrants encountered at gate 36 would undergo processing at a center. Fox News reporter Bill Melugin reported an arrest for assaulting a soldier, with additional charges expected for destruction of property and assault, as per Border Patrol sources.

Despite the disruption, El Paso's migrant dashboard indicated that 743 people were released into the US on Thursday, following President Biden's policies on parole and asylum claims.

The surge coincides with improved weather conditions, enabling thousands from Central and South America to travel to the Southern border comfortably.

A spokesperson from Abbott's office blamed President Biden for the chaos and mentioned plans to arrest migrants for criminal trespass and property damage. An attempt to implement SB4, allowing arrests for illegal entry, was blocked by an appeals court hours after being cleared by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
