Photos of 137 abducted pupils at Kaduna Govt House after regaining freedom

The Kaduna State Government announced the release of abducted schoolchildren on Sunday, March 24, 2024, about three weeks after their abduction. In a statement, Governor Uba Sani confirmed, "I wish to announce that our Kuriga school children have been released."

Contrary to earlier reports, the governor clarified that 137, not 287, pupils were kidnapped from the LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School.

Governor Sani also emphasized that the Nigerian military, in collaboration with local authorities from neighbouring Zamfara State, rescued the victims.

He clarified that Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad Gumi had no involvement in the release of the schoolchildren, refuting earlier claims of his role in negotiations with the terrorists.

It's noteworthy that shortly after the abduction, Gumi had expressed willingness to negotiate with the terrorists to secure the release of the schoolchildren.

Following their release, the 137 abducted schoolchildren from Kuriga in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, have arrived at the Government House in Kaduna.
