Pilot dies after attempting high-risk ‘Top Gun’ stunt in fighter jet

A fighter jet in Bangladesh experienced a runway mishap that led to the tragic death of Squadron Leader Asim Jawad, 32, who was attempting low-altitude aileron rolls reminiscent of maneuvers seen in "Top Gun."

The Yakovlev Yak-130's fuselage scraped the runway during this aerobatic maneuver, causing the aircraft to bounce.

An aileron roll involves a full 360-degree revolution around an aircraft's longitudinal axis. CCTV footage captured smoke and sparks as the Russian-made jet struggled, ultimately prompting the pilot to initiate a climb.

Jawad and his co-pilot, Wing Commander Sohan Hasan Khan, ejected from the jet and landed in a river, where they were rescued. Sadly, Asim passed away in the hospital, while Sohan remains in critical condition, as reported by local media.
