Police in Abuja Foil Child trafficking Scheme, Rescue Children

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command successfully stopped a child trafficking scheme, rescuing five minors from suspected traffickers.

SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer for FCT Command, stated that on April 27, 2024, around 8:00 p.m. at Kagini Junction, Abuja, operatives arrested two female suspects, Kulu Dogonyaro and Elizabeth Ojah, while they were trying to transport the children into the FCT.

Adeh noted, “The suspects, who initially tried to evade arrest by Sokoto police, were apprehended by our officers in Abuja.”

The rescued children, aged 6 to 12, were handed over to the Sokoto State Police Command for further investigation and reunion with their families.

CP Benneth C. Igweh, Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, assured, “We are collaborating with Sokoto authorities to ensure the children’s safe return home.” He encouraged parents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s dedication to combating child trafficking and other crimes, emphasizing, “We will work tirelessly for the safety of all residents, especially our children.”

The suspects, Kulu Dogonyaro and Elizabeth Ojah, are in police custody and will face court charges after investigations.

The FCT command urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities, pledging continued efforts for everyone's safety and security.
