Assistant Inspector-Gneral of Police, Umar Mamman Sanda disclosed that one of the victims of the bomb blast in a Kano Mosque has died. He shared this information while leading a delegation of security personnel, including the State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano, where the injured are receiving treatment.

He clarified, “The incident is not linked to any act of terrorism but rather stemmed from a dispute over inheritance distribution."

"The suspect was dissatisfied with the distribution and reacted in this manner. He is currently in our custody and providing valuable information. Out of the 24 individuals admitted here, one has passed away. It's truly regrettable. The suspect used a locally made bomb in the commission of the crime."

Sanda urged for calm as security agencies are addressing the matter, emphasizing that the state government is ensuring comprehensive medical care for the victims.

The attacker, identified as Shafiu Aminu, entered the mosque during the ‘Subh’ prayer. As per a community member who preferred anonymity, there were 40 worshippers present during the attack.

The witness added that it took some time for people outside to become aware of the incident and rescue the victims who were struggling to escape.
