Prince Gustav and Princess Carina of Denmark welcome their second child via surrogacy and say 'everyone doing well and is very happy'
Prince Gustav and Princess Carina of Denmark have announced the arrival of their second child through a surrogate. The couple, both 55, have been together for over two decades and married in Germany two years ago.
They faced challenges due to an inheritance rule from Prince Gustav's Nazi grandfather, which initially prevented their marriage. Last year, they welcomed their first child via surrogate in the US, and they were both present during the birth.
Their joy continues as they welcome a baby girl born on April 26. A palace spokesperson confirmed the news, stating, 'Their Highnesses, Prince Gustav and Princess Carina, have become parents for the second time. Everyone involved is well and happy.'
Prince Gustav is the son of Princess Benedikte and the late Prince Richard. The couple's struggle to marry stemmed from a legal clause set by Prince Gustav Albrecht, which limited inheritance rights based on ancestry and marriage criteria.
Despite initial challenges, Gustav and Carina found happiness together. Carina, an American author, and Gustav welcomed their first child last year and expressed gratitude for the legal path that allowed their family to grow.
Their new baby, Prince Gustav Albrecht of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, joins their family, marking a moment of joy and unity for the royal couple.
