Princess Beatrice’s ex-boyfriend found dead after suspected overdose
Princess Beatrice's former boyfriend was discovered dead earlier this year in a Miami hotel room due to a suspected overdose.
The Miami Police Department has confirmed that the individual found dead at the M Miami Worldcenter hotel on February 7 was Paolo Liuzzo, as reported by TheIndependent. Police are investigating Liuzzo's death as an "overdose death."
Following his death, Liuzzo's body was transported back to Long Island, New York, where a funeral was held on February 16. His death certificate reveals that he worked as an art industry consultant and remained unmarried.
Reports suggest that Liuzzo faced challenges with drugs and accumulated significant gambling debts. A close friend mentioned, "Paolo was struggling personally. He enjoyed partying and gambling, which led to his use of pharmaceutical drugs and later, harder substances like cocaine.
His lifestyle was fast-paced, and we were concerned it would catch up with him. He frequently borrowed money to settle loans, creating a vicious cycle."
Previously, Liuzzo had legal issues in Australia related to possession of cocaine.
Princess Beatrice, daughter of Prince Andrew, began dating Liuzzo in 2005 when she was 17 and he was 24. Their relationship came to public attention when he joined the family on a skiing trip to Verbier, invited by Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
However, the couple parted ways in 2006 after Liuzzo returned to the US due to breaching probation conditions following an assault conviction.
In 2020, Princess Beatrice married property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a low-key ceremony amid the coronavirus pandemic. She welcomed her first child, a baby girl, in September 2021.
