Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and Shaman Durek Verrett Tie the Knot in Private Ceremony
Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, 52, and self-styled US shaman Durek Verrett, 49, have wed in a private ceremony near the stunning Geiranger Fjord, according to a spokesperson for the wedding.
The nuptials took place on Saturday, following an afternoon of tea and cocktails at a nearby hotel. The evening's grand celebration is set to host 350 invited guests. Many attendees arrived in traditional Norwegian attire and walked a red carpet leading to the event.
Märtha Louise, the eldest daughter of King Harald V and Queen Sonja, both 87, is fourth in line to the Norwegian throne. Her younger brother, Crown Prince Haakon, 51, is the heir apparent.
This marks Märtha Louise’s second marriage. She was previously wed to writer Ari Behn from 2002 to 2017 and has three daughters from that union.
Durek Verrett, who claims to be a sixth-generation shaman, focuses on spiritual empowerment. Märtha Louise shares an interest in spirituality and esotericism.
Their relationship has drawn attention and controversy, particularly regarding their business practices. The couple sold exclusive rights to images of the wedding to the British celebrity magazine "Hello!" for an undisclosed amount. Additionally, a Netflix team reportedly secured the film rights to the event, while local media were largely excluded from coverage.
