A Georgia teenager attempting to sell a prom dress was attacked in a physical altercation that led to the arrest of three women on assault and theft charges. The incident, captured on surveillance footage, occurred when the 18-year-old seller met with an acquaintance at a gas station for the transaction.

According to police reports, the original owner of the dress, 20-year-old Morgan Flinchum, arranged to meet the seller to try the dress on in a restroom. While the dress originally belonged to Flinchum, the seller’s mother had partially paid for it. Flinchum intended to purchase it outright, leading to a dispute over ownership and payment. "There was a dispute, which ultimately was a civil issue between the dress and money owed to one of the parties," said Gwinnett County Cpl. Juan Madiedo.

During the fitting, another young woman allegedly grabbed the dress and ran out. The seller’s boyfriend, who was present at the scene, managed to recover the dress, but tensions escalated when more individuals outside became involved in the confrontation.

Surveillance video showed the seller being placed in a chokehold by one of the suspects before flipping her attacker over her shoulder in self-defense. Flinchum allegedly attempted to strike her, but the seller’s boyfriend intervened to break up the fight. Another woman then grabbed the seller’s hair, sparking a struggle involving multiple individuals.

Police reported that the 18-year-old sustained visible injuries and stated she was unable to breathe while in the chokehold. Authorities confirmed that all parties involved knew each other, and the three suspects later turned themselves in.

Flinchum and Leila DeJager were charged with battery and theft by taking, while Kaylee George was charged with theft by taking.

The Gwinnett County Police advised that the incident highlights the importance of conducting person-to-person sales in secure, public locations equipped with surveillance cameras.

“Here in Gwinnett County, all of our police precincts, including our headquarters, have designated e-commerce parking,” Madiedo said. “We invite any citizen out there, if you’re looking to make a transaction, sell any items, or purchase an item online, meet that person at one of our designated e-commerce locations.”
