Retired vet found dead after savage attack by pack of seven dogs including his own
A retired vet has tragically passed away after a brutal attack by a pack of dogs, including his own black Russian terrier.
Antony Harrington, 77, was found dead in his garden in Little Packington, Warwickshire, with his clothes torn apart by seven dogs, including several larger Bernese mountain dogs and his own pet pooch.
It's believed that the animal lover suffered a cardiac arrest and was declared dead at the scene. Police have confirmed that the widower died from injuries caused by dog bites. Sources mentioned that the attack was so vicious that shreds of the father-of-three's clothing were scattered around the garden, and the six dogs involved were seized by the authorities.
A 75-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of owning a dog dangerously out of control and has been released on bail.
Antony, a life-long animal lover, ran a vet surgery in Birmingham with his late wife Louise from 1980 until their retirement.
The tragic incident occurred in November last year, and Antony's funeral was held this month. His devastated family is still grappling with understanding how and why the savage attack took place. A source said: “What happened is horrific — no one knows why the dogs attacked him."

The man's neighbors in Herne, northwest Germany, contacted the police at 2 am on Tuesday, February 27, due to the dog's incessant barking. When emergency responders arrived, they heard the man's cries of pain from inside. They forcibly entered the residence and found the 66-year-old man in urgent need of medical attention, along with his dog. He was swiftly taken to the hospital.
