Rick Ross Attacked by Drake's OVO Crew After Playing Kendrick Lamar's Diss Track at Vancouver Show
Rick Ross's feud with Drake escalated into violence when he was attacked by OVO affiliates after playing Kendrick Lamar's diss track, "Not Like Us," during his performance at Ignite Music Festival in Vancouver on Sunday (June 30). The track, which accuses Drake of being a pedophile, incited anger among Drake's supporters.
After his set, with the song still playing, Ross was confronted by a group of men who were furious that he played the track on Drake's home turf. Heated words were exchanged, culminating in one of the men sucker-punching Ross in the face, sparking a brawl that lasted several minutes.
Team OVO emerged victorious in the fight, with several members of Ross's entourage beaten and knocked to the ground. Ross himself managed to avoid the scuffle after the initial punch. One member of Ross’s crew was left unconscious and had to be carried away.
The incident follows a recent threat from Toronto rapper Top5, who is awaiting trial for murder. Top5 warned The Weeknd against siding with Kendrick Lamar, Future, Metro Boomin, and others against Drake, posting on Instagram: “All these n-ggas are mad at one I dare you n-ggas to come to the 6ix #noflyzone,” and threatening The Weeknd directly.
Rick Ross and Drake's beef dates back to April, when Ross released the diss track “Champagne Moments.” In the song, Ross mocked Drake’s mixed heritage and accused him of having plastic surgery. Ross also claimed their fallout stemmed from a cease-and-desist letter Drake sent to French Montana regarding a feature.
“I unfollowed you, n-gga, ’cause you sent the motherfuckin’ cease-and-desist to French Montana, n-gga. You sent the police, n-gga, hated on my dog project. That wasn’t the same white boy that I seen, n-gga, when we were makin’ them early records, n-gga,” Ross rapped in the outro, expressing his disdain for Drake’s actions.
The violent encounter at the Vancouver show underscores the intensity of the ongoing feud between the two rappers.
