One of the lawyers representing Sean “Diddy” Combs in his upcoming sex-trafficking case has formally requested to withdraw from the defense team.

Attorney Anthony Ricco filed his request in the Southern District of New York federal court, stating that he could no longer effectively serve as counsel for Combs “consistent with the ABA Standards for Criminal Justice.” Despite his exit, Combs will remain represented by five other attorneys, including Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos.

The high-profile case has intensified in recent weeks, with over 40 plaintiffs filing lawsuits against the embattled music mogul, accusing him of sexual assault and other misconduct. The most recent allegation claims that Combs drugged and sexually assaulted a teenager as she walked home from a babysitting job.

Combs and his legal team have vigorously denied all allegations, calling the case a "clear example of selective prosecution." His attorneys also attempted to have one of the charges dismissed, arguing that the Mann Act of 1910, under which Combs was charged for prostitution-related offenses, has historically been used to target Black men.

Meanwhile, Combs has launched a $100 million lawsuit against NBC, alleging that its documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy recklessly spread false claims of sexual misconduct and even murder. His lawyers argue that the network prioritized sensationalism over truth, violating Combs’ right to a fair trial.

Despite Ricco’s withdrawal, the trial remains scheduled to begin in May 2025.
