Security guard shot at Drake's Toronto home amid beef with Kendrick Lamar

It remains unclear if Drake was at home when the shooting occurred

Toronto police reported that a security guard was shot outside Canadian rapper Drake's home overnight. Suspects in a vehicle fired at the guard near Drake's Park Lane Circle mansion around 02:00 EDT (06:00 GMT) on Tuesday before fleeing.

It's unclear whether Drake was present during the incident or if he was the intended target. Currently engaged in a verbal feud with US rapper Kendrick Lamar, Drake's involvement in the shooting remains speculative.

Police are cautious about discussing motives, citing the early stages of their investigation. Inspector Paul Krawczyk of the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force mentioned ongoing cooperation with Drake's team but refrained from detailing video evidence due to quality issues.

The injured guard, hospitalized in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds including one to the chest, awaits further updates. Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow condemned the violence, urging swift apprehension of the perpetrators.

The rivalry between Drake and Lamar, intensifying with recent "diss tracks," has led to personal attacks. Lamar's song Not Like Us features Drake's residence on its cover, alleging controversial claims. Drake's response, The Heart Part 6, refutes these accusations, emphasizing his disdain for such allegations.

Drake's home, dubbed The Embassy, has been spotlighted in his music and online. Police have cordoned off the property for investigation, as the incident unfolds amid escalating tensions between the two hip-hop icons.
