So-Safe Corps Rescue kidnapped Boy

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, rescued a 17-year-old boy, Otohu Moses, who was reportedly kidnapped on Monday.

The victim's father, Sunday Iboin, reported the incident to the So-Safe Corps on Tuesday. He explained that his son was kidnapped while he went to the back of the house to ease himself. The kidnappers, suspected to be members of the neighborhood, demanded a ransom of N1.5 million.

A press statement issued on Wednesday from the Office of the State Commander of the Corps, Soji Ganzallo, through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, contained the details. The statement mentioned that on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, Sunday Iboin reported that his son was kidnapped in Olorunsogo Community, Olorunda in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, around 10:15 PM on Monday, January 29, 2024.

"When Sunday couldn't find his son on time, he called his phone several times, and a man picked it, telling him in Yoruba that his son had already been kidnapped. The father also mentioned that the suspected kidnappers were demanding a ransom of N1,500,000.

"The victim’s father informed us that he suspected one of his neighbors to be behind the kidnapping."

The statement further disclosed that "the operational team of the Corps strategized, took action, and confronted the suspected kidnappers in the forest, a few kilometers away from the kidnapping point. The boy was rescued unharmed, although he had marks of cane on his body. The three armed kidnappers escaped with one motorcycle."

The rescued victim was handed over to operatives of the state police command at Imala Divisional Police Headquarters.
