Son Fatally Shoots father, a Detective, in Their Long Island home

A Long Island man was arrested and charged with murder after fatally shooting his father, a retired Suffolk County detective, in their Dix Hills home.
Authorities identified the victim as 75-year-old John “Jack” Miller. The suspect, 43-year-old Christopher Miller, reportedly shot his father multiple times with a shotgun following an argument.

The incident unfolded after Christopher Miller was reported missing by his father on Tuesday. Unknown to John Miller at the time, his son had been hospitalized following a car crash that also involved a physical altercation with the other driver.
Upon being discharged from the hospital, Christopher Miller returned home, where tensions escalated into a deadly confrontation. After the shooting, he fled and hid in a neighbor’s shed. Police, responding to a 911 call around 7:25 a.m., located him and brought him back to the residence on Bruno Lane, where officers discovered John Miller’s body.

Authorities stated that Christopher Miller had recently moved in with his father following a divorce. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been provided at this time.
Christopher Miller is awaiting arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip.
