South Africa's music star Tyla cancels world tour due to injury
South Africa's Grammy-winning artist Tyla has cancelled her highly anticipated world tour just weeks before its scheduled start due to an injury.
The rising music star, known for her international hit single "Water," expressed her heartbreak after doctors advised against proceeding with the tour. Writing on social media, the 22-year-old revealed that she had been silently battling an unspecified injury for the past year, which has unfortunately worsened over time.
"I've seen doctors and specialists with high hopes, but the pain has only intensified, along with the severity of the situation," Tyla shared on Instagram. "Words cannot describe my frustration at this pivotal point in my career."
She assured her fans that she and her team are diligently working on a spectacular show for them, promising to return safely to the stage once she has recovered.
Tyla's maiden global tour was set to commence in Oslo, Norway, later this month, with stops across Europe and North America, including the iconic Coachella festival in the California desert.
Her cancellation follows her meteoric success, with "Water" making a groundbreaking debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last October. The song earned Tyla a Grammy for Best African Music Performance in February, solidifying her position as a rising star in the music industry.
"It's tough to turn down opportunities you've been waiting for your whole life, but I trust in God's plan," Tyla wrote, expressing her gratitude and faith.
"Water" blends genres including R&B and amapiano, a fusion of house, jazz, and lounge music originating from South Africa's townships, which is gaining growing global popularity.
