Spanish tourist gang-raped by 7 men in Jharkhand, India

In a tragic turn of events, the globe-trotting adventure of a Spanish couple on motorcycles came to a harrowing halt in Jharkhand’s Dumka, where a 28-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by seven men while spending the night with her partner in a makeshift tent. The couple, having covered 63 countries and 170,000 km, found themselves in a nightmare situation they never imagined.

The woman took to social media to share the ordeal, revealing the brutality they faced at the hands of the perpetrators. Despite initially posting about the incident, they later removed the post at the request of the Jharkhand Police to avoid interference with the ongoing investigation. "Something terrible has happened to us, something we wouldn't wish on anyone. Seven men have raped me," the woman shared on her social media platform.

"The police instructed me to take down the post to not disrupt the investigation. I will repost it later," she added on her Instagram stories. "My face bears the marks, but the mental anguish is what pierces me the most. I feared for our lives. Thank goodness we survived," she expressed.

Following the distressing incident, three suspects have been apprehended, with a manhunt underway to capture the remaining culprits. A special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted to ensure a comprehensive probe into the heinous crime.

The victims, currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, are out of immediate danger but are under close observation for any signs of trauma. "Both are stable and are receiving medical care at the hospital. The man has minor injuries. The victim will undergo a medical examination by a board of specialists including gynaecologists, radiologists, orthopaedics, and a dentist, under the supervision of Dr. Anupuran Purti, the superintendent of the medical college," stated a doctor at the hospital as quoted by news agency PTI.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has condemned the delay in apprehending all the accused and has extended support to the survivor and her partner. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and raised questions about the efficacy of law enforcement in Jharkhand, prompting political leaders to demand accountability and swift action to ensure justice for the affected couple.
