Squid Game actor O Yeong-Su has received an eight-month suspended prison sentence for sexual misconduct in South Korea.

Charged in 2022 for assaulting a woman twice in 2017, O plans to appeal within seven days, AFP reported the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court as saying.

The allegations include hugging and kissing the victim without consent, leading to an order for O to attend sexual violence classes.

Judge Jeong Yeon-ju noted the victim's consistent statements, despite O's denial, about incidents occurring on a walking path and near her home.

O gained global recognition for his role in Squid Game, winning a Golden Globe in 2022. However, the controversy led to his removal from an upcoming film in South Korea, as reported by Reuters.

Womenlink, a prominent feminist organization, emphasized the need for accountability and apology from O towards the victim.
