Student Commits Suicide at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa State

A tragic incident unfolded at the Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Adamawa State, as Jamima Shetima Balami, a 24-year-old National Diploma II student of Mass Communication, reportedly took her own life. Balami, who was on the verge of completing her Industrial Training (IT) at Adamawa Television (ATV) in Yola, was discovered lifeless at her residence in Vinikilang (Hayin Gada), Girei Local Government Area of the state.

The preliminary investigation suggests that she ingested a substance believed to be rat poison.



Reports have it that the 24-year-old girl who is the only daughter of her father, committed suicide after her boyfriend reportedly a lecturer at Modibbo Adama University, told her to leave.

The head of the state police Sulaiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed the incident on Monday.

Nguroje said it was the father of the late who reported the death of his daughter.

The father of the deceased reported the tragic incident to the police. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident on Monday to Daily Trust, mentioning that two different versions of the events have been reported. The police assured the public of a thorough investigation to uncover the true cause of the young woman's untimely death.
