Suicide Bombers Attack Pakistani Military Base, Killing at Least Nine and Injuring 25

A coordinated militant attack struck a military base in northwestern Pakistan on Monday, killing at least nine people and injuring 25 others, officials and hospital sources confirmed. The assault in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, involved two suicide bombers who detonated explosives to breach the base’s wall, followed by armed militants attempting to storm the compound.

The Pakistani Taliban-affiliated group Jaish Al-Fursan claimed responsibility, alleging heavy casualties among security forces. However, the military has not confirmed the exact toll. Bannu District Hospital reported that four children were among the dead, as the attack damaged nearby homes and buildings.
Security forces successfully repelled the attackers, eliminating five to six militants attempting to enter the cantonment, a security official stated. The assault occurred after sunset, during the holy month of Ramadan, when many would have been breaking their fast.
This marks the third major militant attack in Pakistan since Ramadan began, highlighting ongoing security challenges in the region.
