Suspect Arrested for Impersonating Customs Comptroller-General
The Nigeria Customs Service arrested Abdul-Rahman Ibrahim, who is in his fifties, for being part of deceitful actions and pretending to be the Comptroller-General of Customs and other important government figures.
This information was shared in a statement on the official X handle of the NCS on Wednesday.
According to the statement, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS spokesperson, revealed on Monday that they could catch the suspect because of information collected by the Customs Police Unit.
The statement said, "Abdul-Rahman Ibrahim got caught for pretending to be the Comptroller-General of Customs, Chief of Staff to the President, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
"The National PRO mentioned that the suspect tricked many people into giving him money for fake 'job appointment letters,' taking over N1 million from them.
"This arrest shows how hard the Nigeria Customs Service works to stop bad guys who use the Customs name for tricky things." The statement also said that Ibrahim admitted to his role in the deceitful act and mentioned others involved. So, the police will keep checking and catching those people too.
The suspect had fake papers, including fake Customs and NSCDC appointment letters, and fake introduction letters supposedly signed by important government officials, among other things.
