Suspected killer of 17 soldiers shows his face, gives reason

An alleged leader of the gang responsible for the recent killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama community, Delta State, has defended their actions in a viral TikTok video.

He claimed that the soldiers were not on a peace mission but were supporting a neighboring community, Okoloba, in a land dispute against Okuama.

The gang leader, whose father was a retired Nigerian Army Captain, mentioned previous incidents where soldiers allegedly arrested and killed people from Okoloba before returning to apprehend Okuama community leaders.

He expressed no remorse for the killings, citing the powerlessness of youths in such situations.

The victims, identified by the Nigerian Army, included officers like Lt.-Col. A.H. Ali, Majors S.D. Shafa and D.E. Obi, and Captain U. Zakari, along with several soldiers of lower ranks.

The military has initiated a manhunt for the suspects involved in the attack.
