Sweden's Future Queen's Sister and Life Away from the Spotlight in the US"

Princess Madeleine and Chris O'Neill have regularly visited Sweden since relocating

Princess Madeleine of Sweden has set an exemplary model for balancing royal duties and a private life, particularly since she relocated to the United States.

Similar to Prince Harry's situation, Princess Madeleine is the second daughter of King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden and once held the position of third in line to the throne. Both she and Harry, as younger siblings, were termed "spare" in comparison to their older siblings, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince William, respectively.

Seeking a life away from constant public scrutiny, both royals chose to move their families to the United States, with Princess Madeleine residing in Florida and Prince Harry now based in California.

However, unlike Harry's departure amid reported family tensions, Princess Madeleine's decision to move was fully supported by the Swedish royal institution. Before settling in Florida, she had already spent time in the U.S., particularly during her internship at UNICEF in New York. This experience deepened her engagement with issues concerning vulnerable children, a cause she has consistently championed.

In 2010, Princess Madeleine announced her engagement to British-American entrepreneur Chris O'Neill, who chose not to accept a royal title. Despite this, their children were granted HRH status and ducal titles by King Carl XVI Gustav.

Their three children—Princess Leonore, Duchess of Gotland; Prince Nicolas, Duke of Ångermanland; and Princess Adrienne, Duchess of Blekinge—are part of the Swedish royal family's future, reflecting Princess Madeleine's commitment to both her family and her passion for humanitarian causes.
